COMMITTEE 2019

Every year a normal bunch of students are nominated to oversee the running of CU. Here's this year's line up:

Co-President - Amy Little

Hey! I am currently in my second year studying Primary Education. I enjoy singing, playing guitar, exploring, laughing and eating snacks, especially Twirls!
There are so many verses in the bible I adore but one of my favourites is Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭(NLT‬)- “Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done." I just think this is amazing and so comforting!

Co-President- Jacob Standen

Hello! I’m Jacob, and I’m a first year History student with a love for music, long walks, and coffee (lots of coffee). Fellowship holds a special place in my heart, and sharing life with people really excites me. The verse that speaks to me above anything is 1 Thessalonians 5:19 (NIV)- “Do not quench the Spirit.” It really reminds me to make sure I’m fuelling my life with what’s right, and not putting out the works of the Spirit within it! I want that fire inside to burn wild, and this verse reminds me to live out life in a way that lets that happen!

Admin - Abi Mullen

Hi, I'm Abigail. I am a second year philosophy, ethics, and religion student. In my free time I enjoy going to the gym, hanging out with friends, and watching TV and movies alongside eating. It's hard to choose a favourite verse in the bible so I'll choose my favourite book instead. I love the book of Daniel because it constantly reiterates that having a trust in God can give you the strength for any situation.

Outreach and Publicity Coordinator - Emily Hunter

Hi! I’m Emily and I’m in my second year studying Philosophy , Religion and Ethics! I enjoy hanging out with my friends, eating LOTS of food and listening to music. My favourite bible verse is Philippians 4:6-7 “do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” This helps me know that God has a plan for my life and I am free to cast all my anxiety’s to God and he will give me peace in tough times. What a good God we have!

Outreach and Follow Up Coordinator - Jo Giles

Heya, I’m currently in my first year studying Social Work and have a passion for empowering others. There are many things I enjoy about this life, including going for walks (especially if I get to see a sunset!), listening to music, grabbing a hot chocolate with my friends and making them laugh. My favourite verse is one that encourages me to embrace my fears and take courage to live my life for God. “Despite their fear of the people’s around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the Lord, both the morning and evening sacrifices.” Ezra 3:3

Outreach Coordinator - Sophie Dracott

Hiya guys, I'm Sophie and I'm a first year psychology student. One of my fave things to do is curl up on the sofa with a good book and a cup of tea on a Sunday afternoon, although that's closely followed by watching a Disney film or baking some cookies. My No.1 bible verse is James 1:2-3 "Consider it pure joy my brothers whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance" because it reminds me that i can celebrate and be joyful through every situation no matter how bleak it appears as it is teaching me to rely on God and lean on his word.

Prayer Coordinator - Rhodri Mayer

Hey! I'm currently a second year Comedy student. I enjoy watching everything from stand-up to theatre. I especially like creating my own work as I feel this passion for creating comes from God. I also enjoy long walks, DMCs, playing Spyro and Pokémon and chilling with mates.
My favourite bible verse fluctuates wildly but one that has spoken to me recently is James 1:19-21 (NIV)- "My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires. Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you, which can save you." It serves as a great reminder of the attitude we should hold in prayer and that we should put our trust in God.

Hospitality and Follow Up Coordinator - Tamara Lane

Hey! I am Tamara and I'm in my first year studying Primary Education. I love being outside in the countryside, drinking hot squash whilst reading a good book and catching up with friends. My favourite bible verse is Micah 6:8 (MSG) - But he’s already made it plain how to live, what to do, what God is looking for in men and women. It’s quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbour, be compassionate and loyal in your love,
And don’t take yourself too seriously— take God seriously. This is how I try and live my life, and it reminds me to love others and not take myself too seriously!

Worship Coordinater - Naomi Spiers

Hi! I’m Naomi and I’m currently in my first year studying Drama and English Literature. I have a passion for all things theatre (particularly musicals), singing, playing ukulele, and having a laugh with friends. My favourite Bible verse is a classic but such an important one to me as it always helps me to remember that God has such great plans, and so there is no need to worry! “For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11.
